Experts collaborate to launch SIDI Hub; the first-of-its-kind initiative dedicated to driving and operationalizing cross-border interoperability at scale in the digital identity space.
17 major open-standard organizations active in digital identity have launched a new initiative β the Sustainable and Interoperable Digital Identity (SIDI) Hub β to define what is needed to achieve cross-border interoperability for digital identity.
Dozens of digital identity schemes have now been launched or are underway around the world at both national and regional levels, and across the public and private sectors. Yet to date, there is no known scheme considered truly interoperable across borders.
Interoperability is crucial for a fair and inclusive digital society. In the same way payments can be made across borders, we need mechanisms in place to assure people that theyβll be able to prove their identity online and offline, whenever needed.

As a founding supporter of the SIDI Hub, ADIA is committed to collaborating with the global digital trust identity community to accelerate adoption and support the path to cross-border digital identity interoperability.
The ADI Association’s core principles align closely with the SIDI Hub’s goals:
- User privacy: end-users hold and control their own data
- No data consolidation: identity data is never centralized; it is only ever controlled by users and their trusted issuers
- Data disclosures: data is only revealed with the individual consent of the end-user
- Inclusivity: serving everyone, regardless of technology limitations
